If you have to do a cheerleading cheer in your competition routine, you may want to avoid a crowd response. Crowd responses may lose the energy of your routine unless you are in a small venue with a lot of your own fans.

This commemt isnt neccesarily true for everything. In most competitions the judges score you partially on how involved you can get the crowd
My team always used crowed responses and if you have at least 10 people screaming what they need to judges will give u higher points or extra points for crowd participation. Trust me it helped my team win nationals.
crowds make it worth it but are distracting
